- My summary and analysis of the talk --- use your graphic organizer as a guide. Richard browning wanted to explain the long journey of what it took to build his jet suit. He went into detail about how he failed over and over again, but how getting back up is what matters. His use of ethos was very little he mainly used pathos. Throughout his speak he appealed to humor to keep the audience intrigued and focused on what he is saying. The little bit of ethos he used was his father. He called his father an inventor which means he probably learned from and is better than him. Logos was not used. The speaker did not directly give any numbers except for how many engines he used to fly, which was five. Also he did describe how much thrust each thrust each turbine produced. Richard was a great speaker because he used humor. It broke the weird tension in the room and made his speak more interesting. The humor was a great way to keep the audience engaged and focused on what he was saying.
- Richards dream was to build a jet suit. So he went out to accomplish it. He failed lots of times but kept pushing on ward. He kept inventing and changing his design until something worked.
- He had the American value of perseverance. He fell down many times but kept getting up. Richard kept dreaming bigger and bigger until one day he did it. He invented a jet suit. He achieved through failure and learned from all of his mistakes. These are all core American values.
- I loved this speech. Not only was the topic interesting but, the speaker himself was interesting. He talked with confidence in his voice and lots of great humor too. His jokes and videos of him failing emphasize the fact that he is not perfect. Which prove that he truly has American core values while inventing. He is not perfect but, he learns from his imperfections and he was able to convey that message to his audience.
- Today I learned that flight for people is possible. Not just by plane but by the individual. And why do I know this. because on man was just way to stubborn to give in to defeat
